VROA. Interaction

The guest editors of the September issue of A&B are VROA, a Wroclaw-based studio. This is another issue that we do in close cooperation with architects - they provide content and examples for the entire issue - curious about their sensibilities, what inspires them on a daily basis, draws them in, occupies them. For years we have been observing their activities in the fields of design, exhibition and curatorial, education, research. We read the books that Lukasz Wojciechowski, one of the founders of VROA, writes.

Unpretentiousness is the key word for this issue. What a pleasure it is to talk to architects who are aware of the challenges we face today. Architects who are not focused only on the business side of the profession, and yet have been operating successfully for years. They have architectural realizations to their credit, but also activities at the interface between architecture and art or social actions.

In this issue the reader will not find "designer" spaces or buildings. Nor does the ego of the architect get stretched anywhere. So one can freely sigh: ufff... and for a moment at least forget about the great starchitects who put their stamp on the space they design. But only for a moment, because it's not so light after all. Reading this issue of A&B requires us to think more deeply about the role and tasks facing architects today.
