How the pandemic is affecting housing architecture

Housing is the stage on which all socio-economic problems play out. Housing policy brilliantly shows the condition of a given society and country. The availability of housing, its quality, and its location affect our standard of living.

Has the pandemic changed the approach to design?
What will result from this change?
Are we aware of the opportunity in this difficult pandemic?

Joanna Erbel, a researcher of housing problems in Poland, tries to answer these questions. Architects know very well where the limits of quality are. Properly designed balconies, the right amount of daylight, the shape of apartments, the selection of low-emission materials and technologies, attention to greenery - these should be the absolute standards of designed residential architecture. And this is what we wish for ourselves in the new year of 2021!
