For a long time, the postmodern Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao was considered the most spectacular realization of an exhibition institution. Nowadays, there are more and more museums around the world, and their style varies - often determined by the nature of the collection, the environment of neighboring buildings or the landscape. The former are spaces belonging to the art market, and therefore their main function boils down to selling works of art and antiques and handicrafts. The latter serve similar purposes to museums. Some are static and unchanging over time, while others, like animals shedding their moult, cyclically take on a new form, such as the annual Serpentine Pavilion in London.
