Competition "SYSTEM LAMPS for residential interiors".

organizer: Polish Lighting Industry Association

Another edition of the competition organized by the Polish Lighting Industry Association is underway. This time the challenge is to design a system lamp for residential interiors. The jury is looking for unconventional design solutions. {More}

purpose

The purpose of the competition is to design a system luminaire or family of luminaires for residential interiors. A luminaire system for use in residential interiors should be characterized by simplicity of design and the ability to create a family of products, providing appropriate lighting conditions (depending on the application/purpose) and safe operating conditions.

The jury expects unconventional design solutions for luminaires or entire lighting systems, which will become a complement to the architecture of interiors of residential character and purpose.

terms and conditions

The competition is open, international, one-stage. The organizer is the Polish Lighting Industry Association, and the co-organizers are: Goczołowie Architekci Author Studio, OVO Grąbczewscy Architekci, SOMA Agency. The competition is under the patronage of Architecture & Business.

The competition is aimed at male and female students, people involved in architecture, art, industrial design, as well as all other fields of science. They can participate in the competition individually or in teams. Teams can be interdisciplinary.

Any configuration is allowed in the design - the lamps can be placed both on the walls and on, or under the ceiling, or placed on the floor, mounted in structural elements or fixtures. It is necessary to justify the choice and principle of creating the proposed system solutions, provide for the possibility of their variability and transformability. Modular solutions can be proposed. It is necessary to associate system solutions with the lighting function they are intended to perform, keeping in mind the lighting and electrical requirements.

The designer should take into account not only the visual effect, impression and lighting function, simplicity of construction, but also safety of use related to the distribution of the luminous flux, as well as resulting from the electrical supply. LED light sources should be used as the light source, and a method of power supply should be provided.

The competition design requires:

  • a general explanation of the principle of construction and operation and the material or materials used,
  • explanation of the assumptions for the creation of the product family,
  • specifying the types of light sources,
  • specifying the method of power supply.

The project should go beyond the limits of typical thinking about the role and possibilities of lighting surfaces, spaces and objects in architecture, interior design and design.

When designing and creating, lighting solutions from KANLUX should be used, i.e. light sources with appropriate lighting and electrical parameters.

awards

The submitted works will be evaluated in terms of: compliance with the theme of the competition, attractiveness and innovativeness of the proposed solutions, architectural, design and visual qualities, legibility of the idea.

The Competition Jury will award the following prizes to works selected from those qualified for the final group:

  • 1st Prize - 600 EURO,
