purpose

The objectives of the competition are:

• to expand theoretical as well as practical knowledge in the field of applied and decorative arts, modeling and practical approach to design taking into account the ergonomic aspect of the developed premise,
• developing the activity of pupils and students,
• promotion of the Lublin University of Technology, as well as the Faculty of Building and Architecture (WBiA) and the Eastern Innovative Architecture Center (WICA).

The subject of the competition is to create a design for an object of applied art taking into account the relationship with the interior of the WICA of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture of Lublin University of Technology.

terms and conditions

The competition is one-stage, open and nationwide.

The competition is aimed at male and female high school students, as well as male and female university students of first- and second-level studies, as well as unified studies. The competition is open equally to individual participants and teams consisting of up to three people. Individuals who appear in a team choose one representative responsible for the team's submission.

The conceptual design should be implementable and identified with the interior of the facility of the Eastern Innovative Architecture Center of Lublin University of Technology.

The location of the object is strictly defined, it must fit into the space of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Lublin University of Technology, more specifically, part of the Eastern Innovative Architecture Center. The object must complement the internal space available to students (photos of the interior are available as Appendix 2 to the regulations).

The competition work should consist of:

• a descriptive part - it should include a description of the concept, characteristics of the materials used, functional-utility assumption taking into account the proposed location of the object in the academic space,
• graphic part - a board of dimensions 100×70 cm, should contain 3D visualizations made in any form, both freehand and with the use of a graphics program, the orientation of the object in space maintaining the scale, projection (the scale should be selected depending on the dimensions of the designed object),
• physical model on a scale of 1:1 or 1:5 or 1:10 (scale to be selected based on the dimensions of the designed object)
• it is possible to supplement the graphic part with additional technical drawings, i.e. sections or details, necessary for a thorough presentation of the subject of the work.

prizes

The following prizes will be awarded to the authors of the works in the competition:

• 1st Prize - 1500 PLN,
• II Prize - 1200 zlotys,
• Third Prize - PLN 1000.

The Commission may award up to 7 honorable mentions, awarded with a gift of promotional materials of Lublin University of Technology.

The works will be judged in terms of:

• aesthetic qualities,
• architectural qualities,
• flexibility and integration with the environment,
• the ability of the project to adapt to the various functions specified in the design and ensure that it fits into the social and environmental context,
• the feasibility of implementing a given solution in the interior space of the WICA of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture of Lublin University of Technology,
• ergonomics of the object - whether a piece of furniture or other object of applied art is adapted to the needs of the recipient,
  innovation.
