Can Foundation, City of Warsaw




On June 2, 2021 , the fifth edition of the FUTUWAWA competition organized by the Canning Foundation and the Capital City of Warsaw was decided.

The main idea of the competition is to search for and promote innovative and visionary concepts of urban development on the example of the capital of Poland. This year's competition slogan was the question "How will we live in Warsaw in 30 years?". The answer to this question was to be the competition works, the form of which was completely free. They could be theoretical in nature, as well as constitute an already implemented project.

The Can Foundation invited to the competition both professionals and amateurs in the field of organizing city life, including young people and children. Anyone could send their form of reflection on the future of the city of Warsaw. In the end, the competition received 242 works, which were evaluated by a jury and the public.

18 projects were awarded in the "Futuwawa" and "Futuwawka" categories, as well as the audience prize.

The winners of the first prizes were Simone De Iacobis and Malgorzata Kuciewicz for their project "Air is Architecture. Warsaw of microclimates" ("Futuwawka") and Pawel Kawalec and Lukasz Tchórzewski for the project " Green Warsaw " ("Futuwawka"). In turn, Internet users considered the most interesting work to be Małgorzata Rapacka's project "Urban Utility Forest".

The jury included Justyna Biernacka, Joanna Erbel, Marlena Happach, Monika Konrad, Aleksandra Litorowicz, Zbigniew Maćków, Michał Olszewski, Aleksandra Przegalińska, Filip Springer, Bogna Świątkowska.
