description
The 17th edition of the international Saint-Gobain Architecture Students Contest was decided on June 10. Several hundred students from more than thirty countries took part, and three teams from Polish universities made the finals.
The competition task was to transform a plot of land located near the Warszawa Wschodnia railroad station, design the renovation of a former factory and build a commercial dormitory. The projects were created under the guidance of lecturers from the respective universities.
When evaluating the projects, the jury paid attention primarily to their positive impact on people and the planet, as well as the energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of the designed buildings.
Thefirst prize was won by a team from the University of Oulu in Finland - Marty Stewart and Kalle Oiva (mentor: Petri Aarnio), the second prize and the Student Prize awarded by the other teams went to Edgars Plocins and Rojs Rozentāls from Riga Technical University in Latvia (mentor: Edgars Bondars), and the third prize went to Grzegorz Staroń and Grzegorz Środa from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice (mentor: Prof. Andrzej Duda). TheSpecial Prize was awarded to a team of students from the Iberoamericana University of Mexico, consisting of: Alon Shporen Tartakovski, Alejandro Gorshtein Czonstkowsky and Lucas Saldivar Cueto-Felgueroso (mentor: Gerardo Velazquez Flores).
