Work submitted to the Halina Skibniewskaya student competition - HEALTHY HOUSE
Green Valley is a project by Michal Younia carried out as part of his course of study at the Silesian University of Technology. The subject of the work done under the direction of Dr. Andrzej Duda was to design an idea housing estate with ter raced housing in typical suburban areas.

idea
The initial assumption of the project was the desire to interfere as little as possible in the surrounding landscape while preserving the green character of the plot, and to create a place that is friendly to life and unites residents. The result is a design that reflects a green valley with a stream flowing through it, perfectly harmonizing with the surrounding nature. The garage creates a barrier separating the estate from the busy road, there is a neighborly common space between the volumes, while intimate gardens are provided at the back of the plot.

The plot was divided into three zones: public (road), semi-public (valley) and private (gardens). The common space located between the two volumes is very conducive to neighborly contacts, creating an ideal place for them to integrate. On the one hand separated from the traffic and noise of the road, while on the other hand with easy access to private spaces.

The green character of the plot is not the only ecological aspect of this project. Care has also been taken to provide favorable conditions for flora and fauna. Nests, wetlands and tall grasses have been provided for a variety of animals. Also, modern technologies were used to make the house completely self-sufficient.

functionality
The estate was designed with different audiences in mind. The houses are suitable for families with children, singles and the elderly alike. The open plan of the apartments is easily modifiable.

Flexibility is a big advantage - the garage can just as well be a workshop, office or store, the space by the stream is also a place for various outdoor activities, and the house can easily be transformed into an office, gym or even an estate kindergarten.
