Among other things, the city of Szczecin attracts water tourism - attractive cruises, events such as the sailing ship rally and many other forms of spending time on and by the water. The organized events attract many tourists, but often the tourist traffic in Szczecin is transit in nature and the length of stay in Szczecin is short.

It would be advisable to create a tourist and recreational base that would attract tourists and keep them for longer. A special role could be played here by the Ladoga - a decommissioned ship converted into a hotel and restaurant. This bachelor's thesis presents a project to modernize the restaurant and hotel space on the Ładoga ship located in Szczecin on Zbożowa Street. The ship was launched in 1954 and for almost fifty years carried passengers on the Ladoga and Onega lakes, sometimes reaching as far as the White Sea.

In 2001, the ship's interior was converted into a hotel with a restaurant, tavern and pub. Despite its good location, the Ladoga does not currently attract many guests. The hotel rooms are outdated and do not meet modern standards. The Ladoga has the potential to become an attractive tourist spot in Szczecin and highlight the city's port climate. The current condition of the ship inspired me to restore the unique character of the place, its genius loci. The project involves rearranging the lower and upper decks of the ship. It includes the design of hotel rooms, a restaurant, a newly separated pub, as well as entrance and reception areas to meet the demands of modern guests. On the upper deck in the hotel area, a wall reconstruction is planned to enlarge the rooms and improve their functionality. The project involves reducing the number of rooms at the expense of raising the standard: from twelve to nine, which will create larger and more comfortable spaces. A cocktail bar with access to the terrace has been designed in place of the former master suite.

On the lower deck is a restaurant accessible to guests walking along the promenade. The design was inspired by the interiors of Polish transatlantic ships, such as the Batory and Piłsudski, which were ambassadors of good design in the 1930s. Walnut wood, gold accents, leather and contrasting ultramarine will dominate the interior design. The art déco style will be emphasized by elegant lighting and curved forms of furniture. The rooms will feature light elegant upholstery fabric, contrasting with walnut wood and a patterned carpet with a nautical theme. In the bathrooms, large-format stoneware in a strong color with a pattern reminiscent of sea waves is planned. The main deck is descended by a double staircase. Bright checkerboard stoneware on the floor leads us from the lobby to the main restaurant opposite the stairs. It connects the two rooms and forms a carpet, so to speak, spread through the center of the restaurant in the main communication path. The walls are decorated with reproductions of nautical figures from a series by Zofia Stryjeńska, created especially for Batory.

The entire interior creates a unique atmosphere, where guests can feel like they are on a luxury ocean liner. To prepare the project, I used plans and projections of the building, which I received from the owner of the vessel. Based on them, I drew up my own technical drawings. Ladoga has the potential to become a popular destination, attracting both local visitors and tourists looking for an authentic experience of a port city atmosphere.
