In the Greater Poland province, on the edge of a forest, the Twisted House designed by AMJ Studio is under construction. This modern single-family building with an area of 466 m² is a response to the needs of modern residents: the desire for contact with nature, comfort, and aesthetic reflection at the same time.

Complex form in the service of comfort
The lump of the Twisted House is a conscious response to the need for harmony between modern architectural form and the natural landscape. Its shape is not accidental - it is a dynamic, slightly twisted composition that seems to be set in subtle motion, as if the house is gently adapting to the surrounding forest. Geometric, but not cool; minimalist, but not austere - the body of the building breaks out of the typical rectangular patterns. Its offsets and kinks allow it to fit better into the terrain, while creating intimate usable zones and interesting spatial relationships between the interior and the surroundings.

Finished with natural materials, the massing emphasizes the house's relationship with nature. The building's characteristic undercuts and overhangs create terrace canopies and shade zones that allow better control of sunlight, and natural ventilation. This is architecture that on the one hand attracts the eye, and on the other hand remains discreet - perfectly blended into the forest landscape, as if it were an integral part of it. The Twisted House is not just a space for living, but an overall design philosophy. Every element here has been thought through: from the functional layout, to the materials, to the relationship with the landscape. It is a house that lives together with people. It reacts to the light, the season, the rhythm of the day. Its form is not only architecture, but also sculpture - thoughtful, harmonious, yet dynamic. The building does not dominate nature, but coexists with it. The green roof, glazed facades and integrated outdoor spaces make the building "breathe" along with its surroundings. It is a place created for those who value high quality of life, sensitivity to detail and proximity to nature.

Architecture that invites nature inside
The Twisted House was planned with everyday comfort in mind, so the main part of the building is concentrated on the first floor level. It is here that the life of its future residents will take place - in a space designed to be conducive to both relaxation and spending time together. The open plan combines the living room, dining room and kitchen into one harmonious whole, creating a vast, cohesive living area. Its layout has been conceived in such a way that all functions naturally intermingle, and the interior is maximally functional and comfortable. The bright, spacious structure of the first floor flows seamlessly into the garden and the terrace surrounding the building, thus blurring the boundaries between the interior and the surrounding landscape. A key role is played by huge glazings, which not only open the house to the outside, but also provide spectacular views of the forest. Thanks to them, plenty of natural light comes inside, and nature, which changes with the seasons, becomes an integral part of home life. Greenery and light fill the interior, creating an atmosphere of calm, closeness to nature and harmony.

Garage like an art gallery
In the design of the Twisted House, even a space as mundane as the garage was treated in an absolutely unconventional way. The architects rejected the traditional approach to this type of room, turning it into an exposed zone, reminiscent of an art gallery or a modern museum installation. The glazed garage was perfectly integrated into the body of the building. It is not a hidden technical facility, but an integral part of the life of the householders and the aesthetic composition of the interior. The owners' favorite car does not stand here in the shadows - on the contrary, it presents itself like a sculpture or a designer piece of furniture. The car has been integrated into the open living space in such a way that it can be admired from the living room and kitchen, as well as the terrace and garden. The effect is enhanced by the glass facade, which frames the vehicle against a backdrop of minimalist architecture - steel, concrete and wooden accents, creating a raw but sophisticated setting. This solution not only surprises, but also redefines the function of the garage, making it an aesthetic manifesto and a conscious play with the convention of everyday luxury.

A private zone in the canopy of trees
The first floor of the Twisted House has been devoted entirely to the private area, designed for the comfort, tranquility and intimacy of the homeowners. There are two spacious bedrooms - each with its own bathroom and a large dressing room, which provides not only comfort, but also a sense of privacy. The layout of the interiors has been carefully thought out: large glazing windows facing directly onto the forest maximize access to natural light and give residents a unique impression of communing with nature. The view outside the windows resembles the landscape from treetop level, which enhances the atmosphere of relaxation and closeness to nature. A tall communication leads to the first floor. The spacious staircase is more than just a functional transition between floors. This space was also planned as a home art gallery. A spacious laundry room is also accessible from this level. It has been functionally integrated into the structure of the floor, making it invisible at first glance, yet extremely practical. The unique character of this level is complemented by a striking staircase located in the central part of the house. Their sculptural form gives them the status of a full-fledged design element, which attracts attention and is one of the visual pillars of the interior. The staircase leading to the first floor not only fulfills a communicative function - it is also an architectural element that frames the view of the surroundings and introduces additional light into the interior, harmoniously fitting into the artistic character of the entire space.

Double pleasure: indoor and outdoor pools
The project also impresses with its ingenious approach to relaxation through the presence of two pools: one indoor and one outdoor. The two serve different functions, but together they form a cohesive, luxurious leisure space where architecture, water and greenery blend naturally. The indoor pool is located in the glass-enclosed spa area, right next to the living area. As a result, it can be enjoyed regardless of the weather or season. A large skylight in the green roof brings soft, natural light into the space, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and relaxation. The light refracts on the surface of the water, changing the character of the interior depending on the time of day - at one time it resembles a secluded forest swimming pool, at another time a modern, minimalist spa. The pool overlooks the garden and further - the outdoor pool, with which it is connected by a symbolic compositional axis. The outdoor pool was planned as the focal point of a private garden lounge area. It is surrounded by a wooden terrace, where two clearly separated sections with lounge furniture have been provided. The first is a recreational space, ideal for sunbathing, lazily reading a book or soaking up the summer mornings. The second is a lounge area finished with tiles. It takes the form of a garden lounge with a soft sofa, coffee table and a view of both the water surface and the surrounding greenery. It's a place created for extended conversations, evening relaxation with a glass of wine or family gatherings at sunset. The whole is complemented by carefully selected finishing materials: warm wood, natural fabrics and subtle colors, which bring the atmosphere of a luxurious summer resort. The two pools - although different in location and function - remain visually and compositionally consistent. They are united by their thoughtful layout in relation to the body of the house and the way they introduce natural light and open up to the landscape. The result is a comprehensive leisure space that combines usable comfort with refined aesthetics.

Cleverly hidden technology
In the Twisted House, the technical infrastructure has been carefully planned and completely hidden in the underground floor. This allows the entire living space to remain clean, harmonious and free of visual distractions. It was in the basement that the heart of the technological systems was located - a modern ground source heat pump, which is responsible for efficient heating of the building while reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions . Next to it was a recuperation system, ensuring a constant supply of fresh air to the interiors and control of humidity, which directly affects the comfort and health of the householders. The same technical zone also houses the entire infrastructure responsible for the operation of the pool, including filtration and water heating systems. This solution allows full integration of the recreational function with domestic daily life, without interfering with the visual order of the interior. In addition to the technical equipment, the basement also includes utility and storagerooms, which are responsible for the practical back of the house - they allow storage of less frequently used equipment and seasonal accessories, significantly increasing the functionality of the entire building.
