Solar panels integrated into a standing seam roof

03 of April '23

RHEINZINK-PV: a roof-integrated solar module system.
From the series "Roofs, roof accessories - trends 2023".

Few solar systems offer solutions for metal roofs that are coherent and architecturally attractive at the same time. RHEINZINK-PV is a visually uncluttered and roof-integrated system that is visually matched to standing seam roofs. With specially developed clamps, the frameless RHEINZINK solar modules are attached directly to the standing seam and are spaced to match the width of the profiled seam spacing.

FITTED FOR STANDING SEAM ROOFS

RHEINZINK-PV is an exceptionally flat and parallel-mounted solar module system whose technical and aesthetic qualities will meet the expectations of the most demanding customer. It can be attached to seam technology roofs with axial dimensions between the seams of 530 mm (roll width 600) and 430 mm (roll width 500), as the solar panels are matched to the seam spacing.

The electrical connection is provided by junction boxes mounted on the underside of the modules. The total mounting height is about 40 mm. As a result, the level of the glass panels extends only slightly above the level of the double standing seam.

MOUNTING VS. THERMAL MOVEMENT OF THE SHEET

The patented panel clamp (holder) to the seam is fixed with a vertical seam holder and at the same time allows the installation of frameless solar modules. The module's system clamps are attached to the seam with only one screw, ensuring optimal attachment of solar panels.

The clamp is attached to the seam with a torque of 6 Nm. This does not interfere with the seam profile (caused by the thermal expansion of the sheet) and, of course, is done without perforating the sheet.

PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION. LOAD TABLE.

As a rule of thumb, at least 3 clamps per side of the PV module are required, but the number of clamps to be used depends on the number of lugs (haft) and wind load.

RHEINZINK has been developing the topic of optimal clamping of standing seam sheet strips for many years. The optimal solution is one that allows fast, secure and at the same time safe fastening. The result of this search was the development of the CLIPFIX® system, refined down to the smallest detail: perfectly matched clamping clamps with increased strength of 600 N/clamp, corrosion-resistant screws and a new tool to speed up installation.

The required number of RHEINZINK-PV clamps is based on the design load capacity of the CLIPFIX system load-bearing clamps, and helpful tables for use by the builder can be found on the RHEINZINK website.

CONSULTATION AND SALES

With RHEINZINK-PV, you can produce electricity for your own use or by directly transmitting it to the electric grid, so the design of the use of solar modules is done in cooperation with specialists in photovoltaic systems. The design of the electrical system and its components throughout the building (inverters, integration with services inside the building, etc.) is carried out separately for each building by solar system specialists, installers or electricians. As a result, the investor receives a design optimized both in terms of electricity demand and harmonized with the external architecture.
