"Hotel Lobbies – Light Shaping the Interior" Contest

The Polish Lighting Industry Association, in collaboration with the architectural firms Goczołowie Architekci Studio Autorskie and OVO Grąbczewscy Architekci, as well as the SOMA agency, the organizer of the International ŚWIATŁO Fair in Warsaw, has announced a design competition for young designers titled “Hotel Lobby—Light Shaping the Interior.”

The Polish Lighting Industry Association, in collaboration with the architectural firms Goczołowie Architekci Studio Autorskie and OVO Grąbczewscy Architekci, as well as the SOMA agency, the organizer of the International ŚWIATŁO Fair in Warsaw, has announced a design competition for young designers titled “Hotel Lobby—Light Shaping the Interior.”

Objective

The goal of the competition is to develop a comprehensive interior design concept for a hotel lobby in which light is one of the main elements shaping the character of the hotel’s interior space, promoting relaxation, enhancing user comfort, and creating a unique guest experience.

The design should demonstrate that properly designed lighting is not merely a technical element, but an integral tool for shaping interior architecture. If natural light is incorporated into the design, its impact on the shaping of the interior space must be analyzed.

Conditions

This is an international, single-stage competition. It is open to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in architecture, interior architecture, design, and other artistic and technical fields at public or private universities. Participants may enter the competition either individually or as part of a team.
Participants are tasked with designing a hotel lobby with a rating (of their choice) ranging from 3 to 5 stars. The designed space should be modern and timeless and meet the needs of today’s hotel guests, whether traveling for business or leisure.
The design must include the following zones: reception, lounge area, work area, and circulation area. The design should ensure a clear path for users between the main entrance, reception, hallways, elevators, stairs, and common areas.
A mandatory part of the design is the use of Kanlux lighting fixtures as the primary component of the lighting system.

  • 1st Prize — 4,500 PLN
  • Second Prize — 1,700 PLN
  • Third Prize — 1,250 PLN
  • Three Honorable Mentions — certificate
