Tightening F-gas regulations, rising energy costs and the need to invest in future-proof solutions are making R290 refrigerant a cornerstone of modern heating systems. De Dietrich - a manufacturer with more than 300 years of tradition - offers a consistent portfolio of propane-based heat pumps, including equipment for single-family homes as well as extensive commercial and multi-family installations.

R290 in heat pumps - why is it the best direction for investors?
The heat pump market today is entering a stage of dynamic transformation, and one of its main drivers is changes in European regulations on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases). Gradual restrictions on the use of F-gases are causing investors to increasingly opt for technologies based on natural refrigerants that guarantee safe operation for many years to come. In this context, R290 - or propane - is emerging as a key direction for modern heating systems.
Its greatest advantage is its low GWP factor of 3. This means that R290 has virtually no impact on the climate, and heat pumps operating on this refrigerant comply with both current and upcoming environmental regulations. For investors, this is reassurance that a decision made today will not require costly modifications in a few years.
R290 is also distinguished by technical properties not offered by popular synthetic refrigerants. It allows to reach very high supply temperatures, which has a direct impact on the efficiency of the installation - both in buildings with modern surface heating and in facilities requiring higher operating parameters. What's more, propane heat pumps maintain stable performance even at low outdoor temperatures, which is crucial for investments in Polish climatic conditions.

Choosing R290 refrigerant is therefore not only an ecological decision, but also a strategic one. It's an investment in a technology that will remain relevant to European requirements, while providing high efficiency and low operating costs. Not surprisingly, manufacturers are focusing on the development of equipment based precisely on R290, and De Dietrich is one of the leaders of this change.
Alezio M R290 - heat pump for modern and retrofitted homes
Alezio M R290, available in a power range of 4 to 13 kW, combines a monoblock design with high performance. Thanks to the use of propane, the unit reaches a flow temperature of up to 75°C at -10°C, which makes it possible to retrofit systems with radiators. The operating range from -25°C to +35°C ensures stable heating even in winter.
The quiet outdoor unit (ErP sound power of up to 52 dB(A)) and compact dimensions make it easy to install and use in single-family housing. Installers will also appreciate the lack of need for F-gas certification.
The unit handles heating, cooling and hot water preparation. In combination with BTW storage tanks, Assure heaters and Smart TC° control, it allows to create integrated heating systems. Alezio M R290 can work with a solar system or a gas boiler, supporting hybrid systems. The pump meets the requirements of the Clean Air Program, is HP Keymark certified and offers a 5-year warranty.

MHTC R290 heat pump for commercial and multi-family properties
The MHTC R290 is a solution for multifamily buildings, commercial buildings, office buildings or hotels. Available in capacities of 20 and 30 kW, it can operate in a cascade of up to 8 units, reaching powers of several hundred kilowatts.
With an operating range of -20°C to +40°C and the ability to achieve supply temperatures of up to 80°C, the unit is well suited for installations requiring high performance. The Scroll Inverter compressor, with modulation from 13 to 100%, ensures precise matching of operation to demand, and the quiet mode enables noise reduction of up to 12 dB(A).
The modular design simplifies service, and advanced integration capabilities - including compatibility with ModBus automation as well as BMS systems - allow central management of plant operations. In combination with DiemaControl Hybrid consoles, the unit can control cascade and hybrid systems.
Heat pumps with R290 from De Dietrich - a consistent system for different investments
Alezio M R290 and MHTC R290 form a portfolio covering a wide range of applications - from single-family homes to large-scale installations.
- R290-based technology is one of the most important developments in the heat pump market. Natural propane meets stringent environmental standards while offering operating parameters unavailable to many synthetic refrigerants. Our Alezio M R290 and MHTC R290 pumps are designed for the widest possible application - from single-family homes to commercial facilities. They are a stable investment for years," concludes Monika Ciesiolkiewicz, Junior Product Manager at BDR Thermea Poland.
