Moon Hoon

Born in 1968. The son of a geologist and an English teacher, he spent his childhood in the mining town of Sangdong-eup in Gangwon Province and his youth on the island of Tasmania in Australia. He graduated from the Department of Architecture at Inha University and the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT in Massachusetts. He founded Moonbalsso in 2001 and has been active as an architect ever since.

His most notable projects include Rock It Suda, Lollipop House, Panorama House, Ongdalsam, K-Pop Curve, and the Sangsang Museum, which won an award from the Korean Institute of Architects in 2005. In addition, he crosses the boundaries of various disciplines, experimenting with diverse forms of expression such as drawings, installations and performances to creatively expand the horizons of architecture.

In 2009, he was selected by architecture professors as one of "Korea's 12 most important architects," and in 2014 he was invited to the Venice Biennale, where he presented many of his drawings. Some of them are in the collections of the Tchoban Foundation in Berlin, Germany.
