The First Edition of the “Accessible Diploma” Contest

The first edition of the “Accessible Diploma” competition is now underway. The “Accessible Diploma” competition is organized by the Faculty of Architecture at Poznań University of Technology. The competition was initiated by the SARP Executive Board’s Team for Accessibility and Inclusive Design. The strategic partner is Schindler Polska sp. z o.o.

The first edition of the “Accessible Diploma” competition is now underway. The “Accessible Diploma” competition is organized by the Faculty of Architecture at Poznań University of Technology. The competition was initiated by the SARP Executive Board’s Team for Accessibility and Inclusive Design. Schindler Polska sp. z o.o. is the strategic partner.

Objective

The goal of the competition is to identify and recognize master’s thesis projects that exemplify the principles of universal design, inclusivity, and accessibility in a particularly outstanding way. Through the competition format, the organizers aim to promote these solutions among architects and to raise public awareness and sensitivity. Master’s theses defended in programs preparing students for the profession of architect in the Republic of Poland, in which the principles of universal design have been implemented in a distinctive way, may be submitted to the competition.

Conditions

The thesis submitted to the competition must consist of two parts: a visual component (i.e., drawings) and a descriptive component (i.e., a thesis).

Submitted theses will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- a high level of architectural and urban planning solutions,
- solutions in the area of architectural accessibility,
- the innovativeness of the proposed solutions,
- visual quality of the presentation.

Prizes

  • First Prize — 6,000 zlotys
  • Second Prize — 4,000 zlotys
  • Third Prize — 3,000 zlotys
  • HonorableMention — 1,000 zlotys (max. 2 honorable mentions)

This year’s results will be announced during the Accessibility Forum, which will take place on November 18–19, 2026, at the Poznań Congress Center.

The Accessibility Forum is a unique conference combined with an exhibition area dedicated to universal design, architectural accessibility, challenges related to legal and social changes, and trends in the development of architecture and products accessible to all.
