The results of a one-stage, realisation competition for the design of a Public Library building with space for NGOs in Warsaw's Wesoła district, on a plot at the intersection of Berenta and Chodkiewicza streets, were announced on February 19. The competition was organized by the Office of Architecture and Spatial Planning of the Warsaw City Hall on behalf of the City of Warsaw. According to the competition's guidelines, the new facility is to form a modern social center for the Wesoła district, designed in accordance with the idea of a third place, an open, accessible and communal space. The project is to combine educational, integrative,
workshop and social.

The competition jury composed of:

  • Katarzyna Rokicka-Müller -architect, chairman of the competition court
  • Katarzyna Herman - architect, referee, Office of Architecture and Spatial Planning of the City of Warsaw.
  • Karolina Baranowska - Head of the Department of Culture and Sports in the Wesoła District.
  • Marek Konopka - architect, Office of Architecture and Spatial Planning of the City of Warsaw.
  • Beata Stachelek - Department of Infrastructure for Wesoła District
  • Magdalena Mazurek - secretary of the competition
  • Maria Zielińska - deputy secretary of the competition
  • Tomasz Pniewski - deputy secretary of the competition

awarded three prizes and two honorable mentions. The first prize went to the xystudio studio, the second prize was awarded to the Jędrak-Kościesza Design Studio, and the third prize went to JANUS Architecture, Piotr Pasierbiński. Honorable mentions were given to the proposals of the FOROOM and Mateusz Mindziak studios.
