Results of the 2024 WA PK Diploma of the Year competition

descriptionOn December 20, 2024, at the gala ceremony for the awarding of the second degree diplomas of WA PK, we learned the results of the Diploma of the Year 2024 competition organized by the Faculty of Architecture at Krakow University of Technology. The awards were given to the best master's theses defended in 2024 in the categories:
- Architecture and Urban Planning,
- Urban Planning and Spatial Planning,
- Conservation of Monuments,
- Landscape Architecture,
- Special Award - Renewable Energy Sources.
The submitted works were judged by a jury consisting of:
- Dr. Magdalena Kozień-Woźniak, prof. PK - dean of WA PK, chairwoman of the competition committee,
- Prof. Tomasz Kozłowski - vice-dean of WA PK,
- Dr. Urszula Forczek-Brataniec - vice-dean of WA PK,
- Dr. Agnieszka Wójtowicz-Wróbel - vice-dean of WA PK,
- Dr. Łukasz Stożek, prof. at PK - plenipotentiary of the WA dean for competitions, referee of the referee
- Marek Kaszyński - chairman of the council of the Małopolska Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland
- Magdalena Buczyńska - president of the Cracow branch of SARP
- Jerzy Wowczak, Ph.D. - representative of the Association of Conservators of Monuments
- Julia Cieślik - representative of the Student Government of PK.
The commission awarded the Grand Prix, three main prizes and five honorable mentions.
TheGrand Prix and First Prize in the Historic Preservation category went to Jan Paniak for his work "CHÂTEL-ARGENT, designing contemporary form in areas of ruins," done under the direction of Dr. Dominik Przygodzki.Jan Paniak was also awarded the Prize of the Krakow Branch of the Historic Preservation Association.
First Prize in the Architecture and Urban Planning category went to Damien Beaumont for his work "Center for the Development of the Arts," made under the direction of Prof. Tomasz Kozłowski.
First Prize in the Urban Planning and Spatial Planning category went to Krzysztof Jarczok for his diploma "Project for revitalization of a fragment of the city of Mysłowice", under the direction of Prof. Mateusz Gyurkovich.
First Prize in the Landscape Architecture category went to Tomasz Jaróg for his thesis "Connect anew - Design of the Prądnik River Park", made under the direction of Katarzyna Hodor, PhD, Prof. PK.
The First Prize in the Special Award - Renewable Energy Sources category was also awarded to Zlata Hrabtsevich for her thesis "Dzielnia - Cultural Quarter in Nowy Sącz". Her supervisor was Dr. Marcin Gierbienis.
