jury's justification

A rich array of proposed forms of multi-plan architectural detail, full of content, symbols and meanings, building a form of a residential and commercial tenement house in Lodz, adequate to its metropolitan location. The proposed building, reaching back to the art-deco tradition, creates a contemporary style of the newly built space of one of the most important streets of the city and its downtown, Zachodnia and S. Więckowskiego Streets.

At the same time, it should be emphasized after the authors of the awarded work that "The project is an objection to the single-mindedness and reductionism of modernism architecture, a denial of the modernists' idea of the essence of the continuous process of change in life, to which architecture is supposed to conform." With their work they attempted to "materialize non-empirical ambiguity, radical eclecticism" in the context of "cultural recovery of a lost time."
