Jury opinion

The thesis is distinguished by the quality and scope of the study. Attention is drawn to the original approach to the topic formulated in the title - the Memorial Museum. The author formulated the main design assumptions as follows: "the design idea is based on the assumption that through the medium of memory the subject enters into interactive relations with spaces, which he experiences polysensorically, ..., becomes an active participant of the place - recalls memories associated with it or associated with it, performs its interpretation and appreciation." The designed site was located in the post-shipyard areas of the Young City of Gdansk-Drewnica Peninsula. The site is saturated with history and emotions. It also has great potential for future development. Urban planning and architectural solutions skillfully respond to the obliging conditions of the location. A proper functional and spatial connection of the site with the surrounding areas has been achieved. The designed museum brings new values to the surrounding space and should become a cultural factor. Not only in the immediate surroundings, but also on a city scale. The adopted design solutions are characterized by high formal discipline. The body of the building is simple and compact. Facades with balanced proportions. The composition of the functional-spatial system was based on the principles of the golden division. The projection is clear and logical. In the interior, interesting relations between open and closed spaces were obtained. The value of the work is increased by the extensive written work. The work at a high workshop level, evident in both the drawing and written parts.
