Jury Opinion

The authors of work no. 58 have resolved the issue of connecting the expanded Museum building (the Old Vinegar Plant) with the city in an extremely accurate and specific way for Bolesława Chrobrego Street - by (similarly to what happens in front of St. John's Church or in front of the Jan Amos Komensky monument) widening the sidewalk, which makes it possible to create a square from which it will be possible to further enter the Museum.

The proposed solution captivates with its sensitivity to the special features of the site, the existing buildings of the Old Vinegar House, the use of material or, finally, the relationship between the front quarter buildings and those in the depth of the plot.

The Competition Jury appreciated the way the authors defined the character of the designed space and the form of the new part of the museum - through intellectual and formal transformation of the existing building with respect to its dimensions, proportions and material.

As a result, the building designed in this way offers a chance for a new and unique form of a contemporary museum, while remaining an object strongly locally "anchored" in the historical part of the city.

The Competition Jury noticed functional flaws in the solution for the delivery and unloading of museum exhibits, ticketing, access control, car parking, etc.
