Fiber cement facade material

When Ludwig Hatschek invented fiber cement in the late 19th century, he combined the basic elements from nature: mineral materials, water, air and fire in a simple filtration process. Our parent company, Etex, has been producing fiber cement materials since 1905. The most prestigious incarnation in this proud heritage of unique materials is the EQUITONE® range of facade materials.

This process makes each EQUITONE façade panel unique with an individual texture of fiber-infused cement. Most EQUITONE facade materials have a translucent, raw and unfinished character.

In the 1950s, leading architects such as Walter Gropius were the first to use coated fiber cement panels using a ventilated facade system (rainscreen). Designer Willy Guhl created the famous "loop chair" from 1 piece of fiber-infused cement in 1954. This design continues to highlight the fiber cement material's core strengths: thin, lightweight, durable and beautiful. In 1987, Herzog & De Meuron designed the Ricola warehouse building in Laufen using uncoated fiber cement panels.

The resulting louvered facade, which refers to the cardboard boxes inside, inspired our company to begin the industrial development of raw, unprocessed fiber cement materials.

EQUITONE is a fiber cement facade materials used in projects by architects around the world. Beautiful, durable and safe, EQUITONE materials are distinguished by their natural surface textures.

EQUITONE belongs to the international Etex Group, present in Poland for many years with brands such as Cedral, Siniat, Promat, Euronit. In Poland, EQUITONE materials are used on many prestigious and award-winning projects.
