Architecture Atlas

Once a quarter, we will prepare the entire issue of A&B together with a selected Polish architectural studio to look at its interests and sensitivity to cultural and aesthetic phenomena. The studio proposes a theme for the issue and, within it, examples of what it considers to be the most interesting realizations. In this way, we want to see what architects do when they are not designing, what their professional inspirations are, what architectural aesthetics are close to them. We want to find out - directly, from the designers themselves - what touches them most in architecture, what trends they notice in design, which events they consider most important at the moment.

April's A&B is co-edited with BudCud, a young Krakow architectural firm. The issue's title: "Editorial: BudCud. Atlas of Architecture" is a reference to a kind of inspiration map, on which we will see a fragment of what BudCuds intellectually feeds on a daily basis. It is also a kind of free cloud, where, in addition to the most inspiring projects of recent years, there are screenshots from Instagram, videos, books selected from hundreds of those important, statements of the most inspiring architects today. BudCud asks, architects answer. During our meetings and work on this issue, I wrote down the buzzwords that built and filled the issue below. I'll list them, because they are the key to reading this A&B: beauty; non-obvious beauty; aesthetics; bourgeois beauty; functional beauty; temporary beauty; situational beauty; difficult beauty; map; moodboard; architecture atlas; books; reading; culture; books again; movies; Instagram; manifesto; architecture manifesto; books again; but where's the entrance?; detail; exhibitions; travel; city; strong concept; sense of humor; courage; individualism; necessarily all black cover; can you change the layout? We are anxious -Dear Reader and Dear Reader- to leave a little for the pleasure of discovering for yourself what BudCud has chosen and presented.
