A museum that grows out of lava: a new RE+N project in Iceland

Studio RE+N

Studio RE+N (Re-Evolve Narrative Studio) is an interdisciplinary, research-based design studio based in Hangzhou, founded in 2023 by architect Yuting Zhang. The studio's team is made up of designers with international experience, graduates from Harvard University, Tsinghua University and Tongji University, among others, who have worked with leading architectural firms in China and abroad over the years.

Studio RE+N focuses on creating projects based on place narratives and spatial strategies aimed at the public audience. At the center of its work is the concept of Re-Evolve Narrative - a design method of "re-evolving" (re-evolving) the unique cultural and environmental features of a place and "re-telling" (re-narrating) the stories of its people and context. The goal of this approach is the regeneration of a space and the contemporary reinterpretation of its spirit.

The studio's activities cover a wide spectrum of scales and typologies - from architecture, landscape architecture and urban revitalization, to exhibition curation, product design and art installations. Each RE+N project is based on a narrative strategy and an engaging, participatory spatial experience.
