The World War II Museum in Gdansk has announced a competition to develop a design concept for the exhibition of the Westerplatte and War 1939 Museum - a branch of the World War II Museum in Gdansk at Westerplatte, a site of special historical significance and a symbol of the start of the largest armed conflict of the 20th century.

purpose

The purpose of the competition, as we read in the regulations, is to obtain the best design concept in terms of content, theme, scenography, visual, spatial and functional-utility of the Exhibition of the Museum of Westerplatte and the War of 1939 - Branch of the World War II Museum in Gdansk at Westerplatte, taking into account the current recommendations of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Conservator of Monuments and adapted to the assumptions of the MWiW1939 architectural concept. The purpose of the exhibition is to disseminate knowledge about the heroic defense of Westerplatte in September 1939 and to ensure the protection, maintenance and revalorization of the complex of military architecture objects located in the area.

The competition is a one-stage, implementation competition, conducted in a restricted procedure.

The subject of the competition is the concept of the exhibition of the Museum of Westerplatte and the War of 1939 - a branch of the World War II Museum in Gdansk on the grounds of the Battlefield at Westerplatte, a place of special importance for history and collective memory of Poles, a symbol of the beginning of World War II.

The scope of the exhibition will include an open-air and permanent exhibition telling the story of the fate of the Westerplatians, as well as a comprehensive design, installations and equipment with instructions for use necessary for the operation of the exhibition, designed with due care and attention to the protection against damage or destruction of both historical objects and relics of objects, as well as content, exhibits.

  • First Prize - PLN 50,000 gross and an invitation to negotiate a sole-source contract for the performance of a service based on their competition work
  • II Prize - 30,000 PLN gross
  • III Prize - 15 000 PLN gross
