Jury's justification
Awarded for the sensitive and creative transformation of a heavily decapitated post-factory building into a functional and aesthetic center of high quality serving all residents. The preservation of the historic massing and such enrichment of it with new elements that enhance the compositional and utilitarian qualities of the building deserve recognition. The carefully composed plaza in front of the entrance with newly planted trees is a very good complement to the space inside the building. It also provides an incentive to subject the front of the office on the opposite side of the street to a similar transformation. The variety of functions and numerous activities recorded at the Oxygen House one year after its opening indicates that the building properly allows the institutions housed there to operate.
