On Friday, February 20, 2026, the results of the 45th Maria Dokowicz Competition for the Best Diploma of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznan were announced . The theme of this edition was "COOPERATION, " i.e. cooperation, dialogue and combining different perspectives, becoming the key to creating art with real impact. The projects not only show the world, but try to change it - drawing attention to what is often overlooked, and inviting people to think together about the future.

The Maria Dokowicz competition is the realization of the testament of the founder, who graduated from the Poznan university in 1932. The artist took part in the construction of Gdynia, probably participated in the Warsaw Uprising, then emigrated to the US, where she eventually settled and worked as a teacher of painting and drawing. She died in 1977 in Dayton. The funds she donated for several decades allowed UAP graduates to fund scholarship trips to the United States.

Each university department submits the authors and authors of the best diplomas to the competition. The main prizes are awarded by the UAP Senate in two categories: art and design.

The jury nominated 26 theses defended in the 2024/2025 academic year, of which two were awarded the Grand Prix. In the artistic field it was awarded to Andrzej Staniek, and in the design field to Justyna Wisniewska.

The UAP Rector's Special Award went to Mikołaj Thiel.

Architecture & Business, which is a partner of the competition, also awarded a Special Prize, which went to Piotr Banaszek.

Special prizes were also awarded by other competition partners: President of the City of Poznan, Foundation for the Development of the City of Poznan, Notes For 6 Weeks, Forner, Solar, Rebel, Griltex,Webmetric, Polskie Meble, Wiele Sztuki Gallery, IKS/culturapoznan.pl, befame, Tente, STGU, WhiteMad and Contemporary Lynx.

A total of 26 prizes and honorable mentions were awarded.
