On June 16 of this year, during the Jubilee Conference on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of TUP, we got to know the results of the competition for the best thesis in urban planning, spatial planning and landscape architecture organized by the Cracow Branch of the Society of Polish Town Planners. The honorary prize has been awarded since 2005.
The competition was open to diploma theses submitted by promoters - master's, engineering and bachelor's - defended in 2022 at universities in the Małopolska region.
The jury, composed of Dr. Marceli Łasocha (President of TUP Krakow), Dr. Bogusław Podhalański Prof. PK, Dr. Monika Gołąb- Korzeniowska Prof. PK, Dr. Laura Kochel and Dr. Agata Walczak, evaluated and awarded works in two categories.
In category I, covering diploma theses of first degree studies, the work entitled. "Development of the area around the old manor granary in Pisary" (author: Łukasz Byś, supervisor: Dr. Katarzyna Hodor). In category II, in which diploma theses of the second-degree studies were evaluated, the first place was awarded to the thesis entitled. "Memory of the bailey. Revitalization of the former Jewish quarter in Lublin" (author: Michalina Zyga, supervisor: Dr. Damian Poklewski-Koziełł), II place was awarded ex aequo to the thesis entitled "Revitalization of the former Jewish quarter in Lublin. "Adaptation of infrastructure to pedestrian traffic in the area of district VIII Debniki in the light of the walkabilityconcept" (author: Aleksander Sielecki, supervisor: Dr. hab. Grzegorz Micek prof. UJ; written thesis defended at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management of the Faculty of Geography and Geology of the Jagiellonian University) and the thesis titled. "The project of a metropolitan park in the Orłowo district - analysis and possibilities of shaping the connections between the upper and lower terraces of Gdynia" (authors: Aleksandra Gońda, Szymon Chromik, supervisor: Dr. hab. Katarzyna Łakomy, assistant supervisor: Dr. Miłosz Zieliński). Honorable mention in the second category was awarded to the work entitled. "Green fields in a small city" (author: Wojciech Brzyski, supervisor: dr. hab. Agnieszka Kwiatek-Sołtys prof. UP; written thesis defended at the Institute of Geography of the Pedagogical University named after the Commission of National Education in Cracow).
