Natalia Pankova

She is studying Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology (single master's degree, 3rd year).

She is interested in the design of common spaces and how the layout of buildings affects the daily behavior of residents. In projects she is more concerned with the relationship between buildings than with a single object, the form should result from the function and rules of use, not from style.

The project in Lidzbark Warmiński was an attempt to test whether contemporary buildings can be created by repeating the spatial principles of a historical city, rather than copying its details. I worked on the proportions, rhythm and structure of the quarter instead of the style of the facade.

She is taking part in the Ekodemik research project on co-design of common spaces in dormitories (we are currently preparing a research paper). She also participated in the Warsaw-Berlin urban planning workshop (PW and TU Berlin).

As part of the Re-Skinning Bauhaus Dessau program, she worked on a concept for the temporary transformation of the facade of the Bauhaus building based on the reduce reuse recycle approach and digital tools.

Her point of reference is modernism and its logical approach to form. She is currently developing towards rule-based design and spatial relationships and parametric methods.
