The New Swiss Wave—an issue prepared by Zygmunt Borawski and Jan Przedpełski—is a special edition. Not only is the topic unique, but so is the form. Each text is a conversation—rich in diverse perspectives, attentive, and full of reflection. It is a story about ways of thinking, designing, learning, and environmental responsibility.t.

Switzerland has been attracting architects from Europe and around the world for years. It is a country with a high culture of building, strong institutions, and a clear education system. However, behind the famous names and award-winning projects lies everyday life: the rigor of regulations, life in a multilingual society, balancing between the local and global contexts, and the circulation of ideas.

The new wave is not a homogeneous trend or a common aesthetic. It is an attitude that is open to change, environmentally conscious, and critical of the market and institutions. It characterizes a generation of architects who constantly question, experiment, and learn—both in the office, at school, and in urban space.

We would like to thank Zygmunt Borawski and Jan Przedpełski for the idea and implementation of this issue — for creating a space for conversation, discovering new perspectives, and showing how contemporary architecture can combine thinking, practice, and responsibility.
