The Guliwer Puppet Theater in Warsaw's Stary Mokotow district is looking for an idea for the reconstruction of its frontage by means of an implementation competition - the new proposal is to refer, among other things, to the reconstruction project of the edifice by Tadeusz Iskierka, take into account children's sensitivity and provide for the display of puppets and a neon sign with the theater's logo.

purpose

The purpose of the competition is to select the best architectural concept for the new frontage of the main Guliwer Puppet The ater in Warsaw at 16 Różana Street.
The contracting authority expects that the realization of the scope of the subject of the competition will emphasize the prestige of the institution, increase the functionality of the building and increase accessibility for children, youth and people with special needs.

terms and conditions

The competition is an implementation competition, limited, one-stage.

The Guliwer Puppet Theater has been operating in its premises at 16 Różana Street in Warsaw since the 1970s. The building's distinctive frontage with an aluminum roof structure, central glazing and an outdoor display of puppets was shaped in stages (in the 1970s the building's reconstruction project was created by Tadeusz Iskierka), its current technical condition, however, as the competition organizers write, requires modernization and raising the aesthetic and functional standard.

The competition proposal requires the presentation of a visual concept that includes a change of colors, materials and details while respecting the history of the place. The concept must include: unification of window woodwork, method of lighting (illumination, display lighting), integration of multimedia screens in display windows, taking into account the existing side gates, taking into account the canopy over the main entrance (without changing the location of the entrance's location), decorative greenery, small architecture (benches, baskets, flower pots) and take into account the requirements for the reconstruction of ventilation chimney ducts in the fort wall of the building.
