The 28th Annual Jan Baptista Quadro Award from the Mayor of Poznań

The City of Poznań, together with UWI Inwestycje and with the support of the Poznań branch of SARP and the Greater Poland Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland, and in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture at the Poznań University of Technology, announced the 28th edition of the Jan Baptista Quadro Award of the Mayor of Poznań, one of the oldest architectural awards in the country. It is named after the Renaissance architect who was responsible, among other things, for the reconstruction of Poznań’s City Hall.

The City of Poznań, together with UWI Inwestycje and with the support of the Poznań branch of SARP and the Wielkopolska Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland, and in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture at the Poznań University of Technology, announced the 28th edition of the Jan Baptista Quadro Mayor of Poznań Award, one of the oldest architectural awards in the country. The award is named after the Renaissance architect who was responsible, among other things, for the reconstruction of Poznań’s City Hall.

Purpose

The goal of the competition is to select the best architectural structure completed in Poznań and put into use in the year preceding the award ceremony.

Eligibility

Nominations for the award may be submitted by city residents, institutions operating in Poznań, the designers of the completed structures, and members of the jury.
To submit a nomination, you must identify an architectural structure completed within Poznań and put into use in 2025, provide its name, address, the names of the architects and the developer, as well as the date of completion, a brief description, and photographic documentation.

Entries for the award are accepted via the online form available on the competition’s website.

Timeline

  • Submission deadline: September 10, 2026
  • Announcement of results: October 16, 2026, during a gala ceremony at the Faculty of Architecture of Poznań University of Technology. The event will coincide with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of architecture education at Poznań University of Technology and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the university’s first School of Architecture.

Awards

The Annual Award is presented once a year for an architectural project designed and completed in Poznań, commissioned in the year preceding the award, and recognized by the jury as the best among the submitted proposals. The award is presented to the architects who designed the completed project.

The Grand Prize is a statuette by Jan Baptista Quadro, which will be presented to the winners by the Mayor of Poznań.

Jubilee awards are also to be presented — the Silver Award, selected once every 25 years by residents from among architects whose buildings were completed within the last 25 years and received the Jan Baptista Quadro Award in previous years, and the Gold Award, selected once every 50 years.

    Competition Jury

    The jury will consist of:

    • the Mayor of Poznań or the Deputy Mayor responsible for architecture and urban planning—as chair of the jury,
    • a representative of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the City of Poznań,
    • a representative of the Spatial Planning Committee of the Poznań City Council,
    • a representative of the Office of the City Conservator of Historic Monuments,
    • a representative of the Municipal Urban Planning Studio,
    • a representative of the organizer of the UWI Inwestycje Award ,
    • three representatives designated by the Poznań Branch of SARP,
    • two representatives designated by the Wielkopolska Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland.
