The 13th edition of the Stanisław Witkiewicz Małopolska Province Award competition

The 13th edition of the Stanisław Witkiewicz Award competition has begun, recognizing the best contemporary architectural projects that contribute to the preservation and shaping of the cultural landscape of Małopolska. The competition is organized by the Małopolska Province in cooperation with the Kraków Branch of the Association of Polish Architects.

The 13th edition of the Małopolska Province’s Stanisław Witkiewicz Award competition has begun , recognizing the best contemporary architectural projects that contribute to the preservation and shaping of Małopolska’s cultural landscape. The competition is organized by the Małopolska Province in cooperation with the Kraków Branch of the Association of Polish Architects.

Purpose

The aim of the competition is to promote high-quality contemporary architecture by recognizing developers, designers, or design teams responsible for the best architectural projects that harmonize with the cultural landscape of Małopolska.

The awarded projects should be original and innovative, both architecturally and aesthetically; they should set valuable architectural standards, integrate into the cultural landscape in accordance with the principles of spatial planning, use construction and finishing materials in a manner appropriate to the site, and creatively reference the representative features of regional architecture.

Conditions

The Stanisław Witkiewicz Award is presented every two years. Designers or teams of designers, as well as developers of architectural structures, or groups of architectural structures that: are located within the Małopolska Province, are newly designed, or were completed and put into use within two calendar years of the competition’s announcement. The competition does not apply to renovations and revitalizations of structures that have not undergone a significant transformation of their external form, nor to the conservation of architectural structures that are being restored to their original condition.

Entries may be submitted by architects, architectural firms and studios, associations and chambers of architects, investors of the architectural projects being submitted, institutions and organizations carrying out statutory tasks in the sector of culture and cultural landscape preservation, as well as public administration bodies

As in the previous edition of the Award, structures may be submitted in three categories:

  • public architecture,
  • residential architecture,
  • public space.

Awards

Designers or design teams, as well as investors of architectural projects awarded in the competition, will receive commemorative diplomas and statuettes, as well as commemorative plaques to be placed on the awarded structure.
