Intimate Summer Cinema at MOCAK - art under a cloud

26 of June '20

The weekend is ahead, temperatures are rising, and the city's tradition of cinema under a cloud is back in the repertoire of summer evenings. Krakow's MOCAK invites you to an intimate summer cinema every Friday of the summer, starting July 3. The museum has joined the "Be a Tourist in Your City - Visit Krakow" campaign . Each of the films presented will invite viewers into the world of art.

The MOCAKSummer Cinema screenings will take place on Fridays from July 3 to August 28 at 9 pm in the Museum's arcades. Admission is 5 PLN. Tickets available at the Museum box office before the screening and on the MOCAK Bookstore website. Online sales will be launched two weeks before the event and will end on the day of the screening at 12:00 pm.

The first film to be screened will be Pedro Almodóvar's "Pain and Glow."

Previous editions of the Summer Cinema at MOCAKwere very popular. We do not want to give up this tradition! Due to sanitary restrictions and the safety of viewers, this year the number of seats has been limited. MOCAK invites a maximum of 40 people per screening.

How to capture with the language of cinema the matter of art and the role of the artist in the process of its creation? How to show the influence of art on human life? How does cinema portray the complex personalities of artists? In the proposed review there is room for different areas of art, film forms and genres, eras. Everything is connected by the artist and creativity as one of the most difficult, but also inspiring subjects for cinema. Film is able to capture the boundary separating art from life, fiction from reality, the artist from the "ordinary" person, and show how these spheres intermingle and influence each other.

This year's program of the Chamber Summer Cinema at MOCAK focuses on portraits of artists and the price they pay for art, the painful creative process, and forgotten stories that are brought back to our memory.
