House on a hill from REFORM Architect. Futurism combined with tradition

29 of April '20

"RE: HOUSE IN THE ROCK," a house designed by architect Marcin Tomaszewski of REFORM Architekt, will blend seamlessly into the site. The futuristic block will be built on a plot of land with a hill, against a backdrop of unusual natural circumstances.

The building, with an area of three hundred and fifty square meters, will be built on a plot of three thousand square meters in Lodz. It would seem that apart from the original shape, the project does not hide any secrets. However, architect Marcin Tomaszewski reveals:

The designed building has been seamlessly integrated into the site, so it will fit in perfectly with the surroundings. Even the garage section is located just below ground level, so as not to disturb this impression. The decision for such a solution was dictated by the specifics of the plot, which is located on a hill - the initially flat terrain rises upwards. Looking at the design, one gets the impression that the ground "goes up on the object".

Futuristic body, traditional facade

The building is raw in appearance, and this was also the architect's assumption. The lump of the house was to look natural, so as not to disturb the landscape surrounding the plot. Characteristic of this realization is the use of retaining walls. Blended into the terrain, the building will consist of a traditional skeleton. The project will use custom-made architectural concrete panels. Other materials include: glass, alucobond, which is a composite panel consisting of two outer aluminum sheets filled with a mineral core - guaranteeing a durable structure for the house, and concrete sl abs for the driveway.

Energy-efficient solutions

The design of the house includes all energy-saving solutions, which are also a hallmark of every project by REFORM Architekt. As Marcin Tomaszewski explains:

Every time we rely exclusively on methods that help save energy and protect the climate.

The house "RE: HOUSE IN THE ROCK" is in the design phase, with an expected completion date of May 2021.
