Marta Stróżczyńska - "Revitalization of urban areas in the context of sustainable spatial development".

13 of June '20

situation in Poland

In Poland, the issue of revitalization should be particularly important. Many public spaces in cities are still struggling with the effects of warfare and the communist period. Over the past 100 years, the country has undergone many social, economic, or economic changes. The image of today's cities is the result of the measures taken at that time. Although the country has greatly expanded and modernized over the past years, the process of revitalization after a period of wars and strife is still ongoing and requires a more modern approach. The problem with revitalization in Poland is the limited approach to the issue. It is necessary to develop a comprehensive and multifaceted strategy for
of revitalization. It is impossible to bring an area back to life without considering its connections and impacts on the remaining urban fabric. A number of regulations that deviate significantly from European standards and constrain planners are also a major obstacle to the efforts undertaken. As a result, areas are created that are of poor quality, lacking in life and without support or interest in the community for which they were developed.

summary

Acomprehensive and multidimensional approach is important in the revitalization process. The cause of disorder in public spaces is not only outdated architecture. It also involves the cities' functional program, public involvement, the cost-effectiveness of a given investment and its impact on the environment. Revitalization should touch all these levels, so that it goes hand in hand with sustainable spatial development, which will greatly affect its effectiveness.
