Barozzi Veiga
Studio Barozzi Veiga was founded in Barcelona by Fabrizio Barozzi and Alberto Veiga in 2004. Since then, the office has been creating public and private projects on an international scale, and the architects' work has been recognized with many prestigious awards, including: Ajac Young Catalan Architect Award (2007), Barbara Cappochin International Architecture Award (2011) and the Gold Medal for Italian Architecture for the best debut work (2012) for the Ribera del Duero Headquarters project. The office also received the Young Talent of Italian Architecture Award (2013), the Design Vanguard Award (2014), the Fad International Award (2015) and the Life in Architecture Award (2015), as well as nominations for: Iakov Chernikhov International Award (2008), Project of the Year (2015), Fad Award (2018) and Swiss International Architecture Award (2018). Barozzi Veiga's studio recently received the Chicago Atheneum International Award (2019), the Best Architects 20 Award (2019) and the AD Award Architechts of the Year (2019).
In 2015, the project for the Szczecin Philharmonic received the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Award, and 2019, the recently completed Museum of Fine Arts in Chur, Switzerland, was honored with the RIBA Award for International Excellence. The office was invited to participate in the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennale and the 2014 and 2016 Venice Biennale.
The Barozzi Veiga studio's completed projects include: Ribera del Duero Hq. (2011), the Aguilas Auditorium (2011), the Szczecin Philharmonic (2014), the Brunico School of Music (2018), the Museum of Fine Arts in Chur (2018), the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts Lausanne (2019) and the House of Dance in Zurich (2019).
Fabrizio Barozzi
was born in 1976. He grew up in Rovereto, Italy, and studied architecture at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice. He completed his studies at Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Seville and Ecole d'Architecture de Paris La Villette. Since the beginning of his career, he has maintained a balance between his professional work and academic involvement.
From 2007 to 2009, he was a professor at the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona, and since 2009, a professor at the University of Girona. From 2013 to 2015 he was a visiting professor at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice, and in 2016 he was a visiting professor at the MIT Institute of Technology in Massachusetts.
Alberto Veiga
was born in 1973. He grew up in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and studied architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Navarra. He was a professor at the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona from 2007 to 2010, and a visiting professor at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice in 2014. He has taught at schools of architecture around the world: in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Chile and the United States.
