description

The results of a competition to design two permanent exhibitions: an archaeological one and an ethnographic one at the Silesian Museum in Bytom were announced on December 5.

The organizers of the competition were looking for designs of a permanent archaeological exhibition that would realize the basic goals of the exhibition being prepared, such as familiarizing the public with the archaeological heritage of Upper Silesia and showing what archaeologists do and the importance of their work not only for science, but also for society.

Seven works were submitted to the competition for the design of the permanent archaeological exhibition. They were evaluated by a jury consisting of:

  • Iwona Mohl—chairwoman,
  • Anna Wandzik—secretary,
  • Michal Kolodziejczyk,
  • Anna Rak,
  • Beata Badura,
  • Dorota Podyma,
  • Ewelina Imiołczyk,
  • Jarosław Święcicki.

The jury decided to award First Prize to the concept by ART FM studio. Second Prize went to the Koza Nostra Studio.

Four works were submitted to the competition for the design of a permanent ethnographic exhibition. The purpose of the competition was to select a design presenting annual customs according to the seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter), in which economic and professional activities and the cycles of human life (birth, childhood, marriage, old age, death) were to be interwoven. The idea was that the exhibition could be visited in its entirety or according to one of three thematic paths: annual rituals, cycles of human life and family rituals, and work and leisure.

The submitted projects were evaluated by a jury consisting of:

  • Iwona Mohl—chairwoman,
  • Anna Wandzik—secretary,
  • Michal Kolodziejczyk,
  • Anna Rak,
  • Anna Grabińska Szczęśniak,
  • Anna Jurczyk,
  • Daria Misiak.

First Prize went to Koza Nostra Studio, and Second Prize went to Fabryka Dekoracji Marcin Pietuch.
