On December 15 this year, the results of the nationwide competition for the best master's diploma thesis carried out in the field of Architecture (Architecture and Urban Planning) - "Wood in Architecture" - were announced at a gala ceremony at the Faculty of Architecture at Bialystok University of Technology.

The competition promotes the idea of wooden architecture, the tradition of which is deeply rooted in Podlasie, and is now recognized by architects and investors around the world

The competition awards both the authors/authors of the thesis and their promoters/promoters.

Wood in Architecture is a prestigious competition to win recognition from the industry community. The competition jury consisted of specialists - employees of the Faculty of Architecture at the Bialystok University of Technology, representatives of industry architectural institutions and Unihouse SA and Danwood SA companies.

The 7th edition of the competition was held as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Architecture at Bialystok Technical University, which also draws on the tradition of wooden construction. Bialystok University of Technology students learn about the possibilities of its practical application in architecture.

The diploma theses from architecture faculties from all over Poland were evaluated by a jury under the leadership of Prof. Tatiana Misijuk - dean of the PB Faculty of Architecture.

Among them, the jury selected the best five, which were awarded three main prizes and two honorable mentions.

First Prize went to Robert Machura for his thesis "Heritage restored - the design of an urban auditorium based on the study of wooden sacred architecture in the Upper Silesia-Zagłębi Metropolis", made at the Cracow University of Technology. Its supervisor was Dr. Anna Taczalska-Ryniak.

The second prize was awarded to Zofia Konarowska of the Warsaw University of Technology for her work "Adaptivity of structural forms in architecture, and responsible development. Interactive Cultural Center in Praga-North in Warsaw", under the supervision of Drs. Ewelina Gawell and Slawomir Kowal and Third Prize was awarded to Alicja Kazmierczak from Gdansk University of Technology for her work "Arti-Gia-Nato. Architecture in the Face of Disappearing Identity of Place. Center for Local Identity and Craftsmanship at the Papal Paper Mill in Grottaferrata," whose supervisor was Dr. Małgorzata Skrzypek-Lachińska.

Two equal honorable mentions were awarded to: Zlata Hrabtsevich (Cracow University of Technology) and Malgorzata Spierzak (Warsaw University of Technology).
