Professor Wojciech Kosinski has passed away

10 of April '20

On April 9, 2020, Maundy Thursday, Professor Wojciech Kosinski, an outstanding scientist and academic teacher, passionate about architecture, educator and mentor to several generations of Krakow architects, passed away.

He was born in 1943 in Lviv, but throughout his adult life he was associated with Krakow, where he graduated from the Third High School and studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Krakow University of Technology, ending in 1967 with a diploma executed under the direction of Professor Władysław Gruszczyński. From 1967 to 2015 he was an employee of the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology, where he earned successive academic degrees, culminating in the title of professor. From 2015 until his death, he lectured and taught at the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts at the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow Academy.

He was a very prolific researcher, having published over 300 scientific papers and monographs. His latest book, published in December 2017, written together with Professor Tomasz Węcławowicz, was dedicated to Professor Gruszczynski. On this occasion, an exhibition was organized and hosted within the walls of our Academy in early 2018. Wojciech Kosinski considered Professor Gruszczynski to be his master and life guide. It is from him that the great scale of his urban visions and the breadth of his lines originated - for Professor Kosinski was a gifted draftsman, as well as his love of the Tatra Mountains, Podhale and highland folklore.

Professor Kosinski was an erudite man endowed with incredible charm and a brilliant sense of humor, he loved life and travel, was a music lover, mountaineer and sailor. He was also a very brave man, despite a long-standing, serious illness he performed all his scientific, teaching, editorial and reviewing duties with great passion and commitment until his last days.

This is how we will remember him: a kind, smiling and enthusiastic Teacher and Friend.
