Continuity of insulation in the connection between balcony and floor slab in a new housing development in Gdansk, Poland

This is a project of an exceptional estate.
The close proximity to the city center on the one hand and the proximity to the beach and the sea on the other hand, all surrounded by green areas, makes this investment unique on the map of Gdansk.

The Horizon estate is located in the Letnica district, situated on Starowiejska street in the most developed part of Gdansk. It is a complex of multi-family buildings with varying heights from seven to eighteen stories. Each building will be crowned by a common green recreation area. As part of the Horizon Estate, one-, two-, three- and four-room apartments will be delivered, with varying areas ranging from 26 to 98sqm. Each unit will have a balcony, loggia or terrace. An additional advantage of the units located on higher floors will be the view of the city skyline and the Gdansk Bay. Also of great importance for this investment is the tunnel under the Dead Vistula, providing a quick connection between the district and the airport. Also thanks to this, Letnica has become one of the most interesting investment areas in Gdansk. The Horizon housing estate is realized in the vicinity of the Green Road, which is an important thoroughfare of Gdansk, guaranteeing convenient exit from the city towards the southern ring road, A1 Motorway. Another big plus is the efficient access to the city center, which takes 11 minutes. Letnica is also well connected with other districts such as Wrzeszcz, Oliwa and Zaspa.

Insulation of balconies with Schöck Isokorb® connectors.

Schöck Isokorb® is a load-bearing thermal insulation connector that performs thermal separation of such structural elements as balconies, attics or canopies. Whether reinforced concrete-to-concrete, reinforced concrete-to-steel or steel-to-steel connections, the complete Schöck Isokorb® product range provides the right solution for the construction of new buildings as well as for the modernization of old buildings. Thermal bridges are often encountered with various types of balconies. At the connection between the balcony and the floor slab, the continuity of the insulation can be disrupted, resulting in linear thermal br idges. Thermal bridges formed at cantilevered structural elements are a common cause of increased heat loss, the formation of moisture on the walls, or mildew. Schöck's load-bearing thermal insulation elements are the most important technological level for minimizing thermal bridges.
