National Association of Architects of Ukraine accused of corruption in professional certification of architects

09 of February '23

Disturbing information has reached us from our correspondent in Ukraine, Aleksandr Baranovsky, regarding accusations by the Security Service there against the National Society of Architects of Ukraine of corruption in the professional certification of architects.

On his Facebook profile, Alexander Chyzhevsky, President of the National Society of Architects of Ukraine (NSAU), published an official statement on the matter:

The Security Service of Ukraine, with the support of the Prosecutor's Office and the State Police, unlawfully deprived the National Association of Architects of Ukraine of the possibility of conducting legal activities in the field of professional certification of architects.

A fabricated and commissioned criminal case is underway against NSAU and me personally, NSAU President Czyzhevsky Oleksandr Pavlovich. Obviously, this is revenge for the active stance of the professional architectural community on the scandalous corrupt draft Law No. 5655, lobbied in favor of big construction business by the leadership of the specialized committee of Parliament and the Ministry of Regional Development.

At the same time, I officially declare that no one has legally deprived the National Association of Architects of Ukraine of its delegated powers of professional certification of architects, which is confirmed by the information contained in the Unified State System in the field of construction.

This fact will certainly be proven by us before the competent courts, but the time will pass when a large number of architects will not be able to properly carry out their professional activities, which has been the case since last July and up to the present.

I and the entire architectural community consider the unlawful actions of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor's Office and the State Police as pressure, a deliberate destruction of the architectural profession that goes beyond the limits of morality and common sense in a European country at a time of war.

In view of this situation, a video conference will be held on Monday, February 13, at 3 pm, during which NSAU representatives - Alexander Chyzhevsky, President of the National Association of Architects of Ukraine, Anna Kyriy, Vice President of the Chamber of Architects of Ukraine, lawyer Yaroslav Yatsenko and NSAU human rights activist Igor Getz - will answer questions from participants.
