Design of green coworking space by Polish architects

27 of March '20

The project titled. "Urban Garden" by Joanna Matraszek and Michal Matraszek is a green, friendly coworking space made in accordance with the idea of sustainable development.

The concept of the Polish architects from ONDA Architektura took part in the international Urban Zoo Coworking Design Challenge competition organized by Bee Breeders. The design solutions adopted by the authors of the "Urban Garden" have a positive impact on the health and well-being of the users, and a large amount of greenery improves the quality of polluted urban air.

"Urban Garden" represents the idea of biophilic design, which has a positive impact on the work environment, health and users, reducing stress, among other things. Filling the office space with plants and vertical gardens gives it a less formal character, has a positive effect on the formation of relationships between users and stimulates their creativity and cooperation.

modules in the office space

The space has been designed in accordance with the idea of sustainable development and can be fully adapted to individual users' needs and changed in an unlimited way. It is constructed of steel adjustable frames, based on an ergonomic module of one hundred and twenty and one hundred and fifty cm wide. This module has many functional solutions and is inserted and adapted to the existing space, without interfering with the existing structure of the building. In this way, the space is organized, but not divided. Each workspace can be shaped individually by the user.

sustainable development

The idea of sustainability was expressed, also in the choice of materials. All elements complementing the steel structure, are designed on the basis of the same module and can be used repeatedly, when building further spaces. The materials used in the project include plywood, glass, steel and marmoleum, each of which can be recycled or upcycled. The color scheme of the space was inspired by nature - the green of leaves and grasses and the colors of the earth.
