XILO MINI - the power of light on a microscale

The family of XILO decorative luminaires by LABRA, designed by Maciej Karpiak, has been enriched by another luminaire - this time in a mini version. Although their size has significantly shrunk, they have not lost any of their visual qualities or technical capabilities. In addition, thanks to their new dimensions, they perfectly combine with the integrated MULTISYSTEM linear system.

According to the Light thinking philosophy - there are always three components at the center of every new project: light, form and people. This means that LABRA does everything to maximize human comfort and reduce environmental impact, which is why it uses recyclable and suitable materials like glass and aluminum. LABRA brand lamps are designed to fit neutrally into interior design. This is achieved by reducing luminaire elements to the minimum necessary. Such a thought also guided the work on XILO MINI, in which decorative or functional, but also ecological aspects are not at odds with the minimalist discipline. The new luminaires, although in a mini version, combine craftsmanship with the soothing atmosphere created by the light, in which color or form build a mood of relaxation, calm and rest.

Where did you get the idea to miniaturize a lamp that has been awarded many times in Polish and international competitions?

This was not a new idea, rather the realization of previously planned projects, which are a natural development and complement to the sales offer of the XILO family. The smaller version is dedicated to people who do not have such a large space in terms of dimensions to buy and install a larger version. XILO MINI is a kind of compromise and filling the gap for the price range of the whole family offer," explains Maciej Karpiak.
Xilo mini - is a continuation of the path we have chosen, on which we consistently realize our assumption, that is, we create recycled products in a local way, in order to reduce the carbon footprint and support Polish entrepreneurs, that's why we produce on a daily basis in our plant in Babice, and we invited Polish glassworks to produce glass. The collection was expanded for functional reasons and as a complement to the family, because we care about a holistic approach to interiors and the needs of the people in them," adds Tomasz Mucha CEO of LABRA.

How does the mini version differ from the classic one?

XILO MINI has one major difference. Due to its size, we could not make it out of transparent tinted glass. The luminaire has been significantly reduced in size, which, for today, makes it impossible to mount the inner shade - needed to obscure the light source. XILO MINI is available in satin opal glass. The fixtures and components used do not differ from those used in the large version, nevertheless, due to the dimensions, we do not have all the options available here for the large XILO. We had several goals to achieve. Among other things, selected models of the XILO MINI family are IP65 approved - which fundamentally differentiates it from the larger version. Today, it can be freely installed at home in wet rooms and outdoors," explains the designer. So what are the capabilities of the new luminaire? - What it offers is: very high luminous efficiency, thanks to the use of opal glass, high CRI (color rendering) very important when applying makeup in the bathroom. The opal glass used in the lampshade perfectly disperses the light and makes it more and well distributed throughout the room. Thanks to this, we reduce the number of luminaires in the room, and thus design with respect for the resources of our Planet in mind," adds Tomasz Mucha.
XILO MINI can be hooked up to a linear system. All three sizes of XILO MINI lampshades can be fitted to the MULTISYSTEM linear system. We matched the lighting parameters to the size of the luminaires and I can say without hesitation that XILO MINI shines just as well as its bigger sister," explains Maciej Karpiak.
XILO MINI, thanks to its new size, is suitable for installation in a pendant version for MULTISYSTEM. It also comes in a surface-mounted version and as an IP65 wall lamp. From the mini size it was possible to extract - the maximum of possibilities. A novelty is the availability of XILO MINI only in opal version and a new way of mounting: wall lamp and overhang compatible with our linear system series products - MULTISYSTEM. Thanks to its easy installation, it can be connected to an integrated system with a click, and can be freely interchanged with other luminaires if necessary," specifies Tomasz Mucha CEO of LABRA.
