Deceuninck introduces the Zenova 163 Pull & Slide. A new sliding system for large and heavy glazing applications

Deceuninck is expanding its portfolio of aluminum solutions with Zenova 163 Pull & Slide, a single-track sliding system designed for large glazing installations. The system is based on a special mechanism in which the sash is pressed against a centrally located gasket along the entire perimeter of the frame, ensuring significantly better airtightness performance than in typical sliding systems. For manufacturers, the new system offers the opportunity to expand their product line with a premium solution that utilizes select components known from the Decalu 88 system.

The system is available in a single-track version. The maximum weight of a single sliding sash is 400 kg, and its dimensions can reach 3,000 mm in width and 3,000 mm in height, depending on the weight of the glazing unit used. The design accommodates glazing thicknesses ranging from 22 to 57 mm, making it compatible with modern glazing units, including heavy triple-pane units.

A Different Approach to Sliding Doors

One of the most important distinguishing features of the Zenova 163 Pull & Slide is the way the sash opens and closes. The design, based on roller carriages, allows the sash to slide smoothly without using a traditional lifting mechanism. When closing, the sash is pressed perpendicularly against the frame and the gasket running along its perimeter.

This solution combines the ease of handling heavy components with the high airtightness of a closed structure. The central sealing system and active locking points limit the penetration of air, water, and wind, even under more demanding weather conditions.

The system achieves a watertightness rating of E1200, corresponding to a water pressure of 1,200 Pa, comparable to the performance of window systems. Wind resistance has been rated at C4, or 1,600 Pa, while air permeability corresponds to Class 4. Zenova has also undergone an RC2 burglary resistance test.

The growing popularity of large glazing areas increases the demands on sash weight, ease of operation, and structural airtightness. Zenova 163 Pull & Slide addresses these challenges without compromising its minimalist form. When designing this system, we sought to create a modern, minimalist design with a groundbreaking approach to the airtightness of large sliding doors. For structures with expansive glass surfaces, one of the key challenges is ensuring protection against water, wind, and uncontrolled air infiltration. Pull & Slide technology allows the sash to be pressed against the seal along its entire perimeter, thereby combining high airtightness and thermal insulation with smooth sash operation. “For manufacturers, this means the ability to offer investors large glazing areas without having to choose between design, user comfort, and technical performance,” says Dariusz Skrzypkowski, Technical Support Specialist at Deceuninck Aluminium Poland.

Specifications for Energy-Efficient Construction

Zenova 163 Pull & Slide is available in Standard insulation and high-insulation variants. The use of a triple-pane glazing unit with a Ug value of 0.50 W/m²K allows for a heat transfer coefficient (Uw) of 0.88 W/m²K in the Standard version and as low as 0.80 W/m²K in the HI+ version.

These values were calculated for a reference sliding door measuring 3500 x 2500 mm. The design incorporates thermal breaks 60 mm wide in the frame and 34 mm wide in the sash. These solutions help reduce energy loss and maintain a comfortable indoor temperature.

The system features such high airtightness and structural versatility that it allows for the installation not only of large sliding doors but also of windows.

Solutions to facilitate system implementation

Zenova was developed not only with the performance of the finished structure in mind, but also with the needs of window and door manufacturers. The system shares selected gaskets, accessories, and glazing beads with the Decalu 88 window and door system. This allows manufacturers already familiar with that solution to use the same components and simplifies the organization of material inventory when expanding their product portfolio.

Installation and subsequent adjustment of the structure are supported by adjustable sliding carriages, fully adjustable mullion clamps, and dedicated installation templates. These help precisely position individual components and increase the repeatability of the structures produced. The optional Soft Open, Stop & Close feature enables controlled stopping and smooth, safe closing of the sash.

Minimalist design and more light

In the Zenova 163 Pull & Slide, technical solutions are combined with aesthetics that complement contemporary residential and commercial architecture. Slim profiles and a reduced visible frame height allow for a larger glass area and more light to enter the interior.

The visible frame height is 37.5 mm on both the interior and exterior sides. The surfaces are flush on both sides, while the hardware components remain invisible when the sash is closed. This preserves the structure’s cohesive, minimalist form and allows large glazed areas to be harmoniously integrated into the design of the facade and interior.

The system is available in a wide range of colors and surface textures, including smooth, wood-grain, matte, and metallic finishes. This allows the structure to be adapted to both modern, industrial-style projects and more classic designs.
