What does the best railroad station in Poland look like?

29 of May '20

The third edition of the competition entitled "RailwayStation of the Year 2020" has been launched. Once again you have the opportunity to submit and select the best and most friendly railroad station in Poland.

The competition is also a campaign organized jointly by the Pro Kolej Foundation and the PKP Group Foundation to promote the most modern and functional railroad stations in Poland. Its purpose is to recognize the best-rated facilities by users and to collect and promote good practices in serving travelers.

what is your favorite railway station?

In the first stage, anyone can nominate facilities for the competition, but it should be remembered that they must be active railroad stations, open to travelers on a daily basis. The best chances of being nominated as finalists are primarily those buildings that have undergone transformation, providing an example for future investments. In parallel with the nomination form, it will also be possible to answer questions about the most important features of a friendly railroad station.

According to Dr. Jakub Majewski of the Pro Railway Foundation:

This year's railway station competition includes not only the collection of proposals and selection of the most valuable travel service facilities, but also a survey relating to the needs and expectations of their users. Ultimately, an element of our initiative is to be a catalog of good practices, helpful in designing and modernizing public facilities and defining standards for traveler service.

Top 10 train stations

After the application stage closes, audits will be conducted to verify the submissions. As a result, there will be a list of ten train stations - the finalists of the competition, from among which a winner will be selected. One on the basis of the votes of an independent jury, the other in the vote of Internet users.

As Katarzyna Kucharek - CEO of the PKP Group Foundation - emphasizes:

Through the organization of the competition, we want to show that Polish railroads are changing, Polish railroads want to change, they want to be open to evolution through, among other things, investments in railroad stations. [...] We are open to dialogues and want the railroad to be even more modern and open to passengers.
