Steinert Palace in Lodz invites you to the garden

29 of May '20

The Emil and Karol Steinert Palace, standing at 272 a and b Piotrkowska Street, is more than 100 years old. It is one of the most valuable monuments of Lodz. In addition to its magnificent facade, the palace hides a garden, now restored. At the end of last year, renovation work on the building was completed.

The palace garden will become a new recreational and leisurecenter for the residents of Lodz, a place where one can come with a book and a coffee to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The garden has regained its original shape after many years. New plants, shrubs and trees have been planted in it. Boaters will wait until autumn for the opening of the winter garden.

The Steinert Palace is one of Lodz's most important monuments. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century in a style reminiscent of South German pseudo-Baroque. It was a kind of illustration of the origin of the Steinert family. Alfred Balcke was responsible for its design.

The restoration of the palace cost nearly PLN 40 million, half of the amount coming from the European Union fund. Today the palace will house a restaurant, officeand conference spaces and hotel rooms.
