Will we run out of water? Drought in Poland - online debate.

UrbanLab Gdynia is hosting an online debate on the problem of drought in Poland this coming Monday. The moderated conversation, with audience participation, will discuss the role of cities and its residents in the face of impending climate change.

Drought in Poland

Poland is stepping up - our country has the smallest water resources in the European Union, and the ongoing drought is the biggest in fifty years. Since water problems are one of the first signs of the climate crisis, UrbanLab is organizing another KLIMAT series conversation on the role of the city and its inhabitants in the face of the changes ahead. The moderated conversation with audience participation will feature experts and specialists in hydrology and urban management.

The meeting will be moderated by Joanna Krukowska of UrbanLab Gdynia, and her guests will be:

  • Dr. Sebastian Szklarek - ecohydrologist of the Polish Academy of Sciences, author of the World of Water blog, expert of the Ambitna Polska Foundation,
  • Andrzej Ryinski - deputy director for infrastructure of the Board of Roads and Greenery in Gdynia,
  • Tadeusz Schenk - head of the City Gardener's Department at the Gdynia City Hall.

The event is being held as part of the KLIMAT series, interdisciplinary meetings on global and local changes taking place. The series brings the scientific, official and social sides into the conversation.
