LAW_21, which refers to the style of a modern barn, was developed by 081 architects as a two-generation house - a rural base for a young couple and a home for the investor's parents. The building, which is under construction in Lubartow, is distinguished by its division into two blocks - a classic one with a gabled roof and an adjacent one-story cuboid.

The functional layout of the house has also been subordinated to the division into two solids - the higher, sheet metal-clad one is the entrance area and the private space and the kitchen and entrance to the first floor. The concrete cuboid contains the living zone connected to a covered terrace.

As a facade material, the architects used the sheet metal and concrete present in the immediate vicinity.

Thanks to the principle of one material on one block, it was possible to achieve a modern, yet coherent with the surroundings development, the architects add.

Dobrawa Bies: Your projects are very characteristic: strong forms, contrasting masses, minimalism. What kind of clients come to the studio? Do you often get a "free hand"? How was it in this case?

081 architects: The studio usually gets clients who simply like our stylistic line. Thanks to the consistent style of all our projects, clients who decide to work with us know from the beginning what to expect from us. Thanks to this, the first presentations are never met with a total negative shock :)

Dobrawa: The plot somehow forced you to take a different approach to design. Where did you start from?

081 architects: The plot, in a classic meadow layout with an irregular building line and dense neighborhood, imposed an approach to shaping the view and functional openings. On the south and west sides, the building was closed to the neighbors, and the road. The living area, on the other hand, was glazed as much as possible to the north, which provides intimacy for users and a view opening to the garden - a cool layout and a cool block quickly came out of this, so we quickly moved from sketches to finalizing the concept stage.

Dobrawa: The house is divided into two contrasting blocks, also their functional layout is divided. The investors were not surprised by such a result? What requirements did they approach you with?

081 architects: The house is designed as a two-generation house: a rural base for a young couple and a destination home for the lady investor's parents. The tin, taller block houses the entrance area, from which there is direct access to the parents' room, the kitchen and the first floor. Located in the attic, three rooms are entirely dedicated to occasional leisure. In the concrete cuboid we proposed a living zone: a spacious living room with a dining room, which have direct access to a large covered terrace with an outdoor Jacuzzi. The investors were satisfied with such a division, because this is what they expected. The entrance area naturally divides the house into three functional parts and shortens communication between them as much as possible - this is what the investors liked.

Dobrawa: A big asset of the house is the sizable terrace and glazing. Tell us, please, about the design solutions.

081 architects: The large garden and rural, tranquil surroundings gave us the opportunity to open up to the outside as much as possible. Hence the large terrace - a seamless transition from inside to outside and vice versa. This impression is enhanced by the large glazing, thanks to which the terrace gives the impression of a continuation of the living room. We wanted nature to permeate the inside as much as possible.

Dobrawa: The biggest challenge and the biggest source of pride is?

081 architects: Challenges are classic: the implementation stage, so that the minimalist body with refined details is created exactly as designed (which requires a lot of coordination between contractors). There will be reason to be proud if it succeeds :)

Dobrawa: Thank you for the interview.
