If the surroundings were to change a bit, the house designed by the medusa group might as well be on a Hollywood hilltop. Flat roof, large glazing, southern exposure and natural decoration aesthetically permeating the interior. Such villas do indeed grace the streets of the US West Coast, but they also work well in Upper Silesia.

The architects of {tag:Studio} did not find a stylistically homogeneous architecture around the plot where the house was to stand, so they turned to the functional needs of the investor. They also decided to take advantage of the scenic qualities of the area. The simple composition, designed with economy of means of expression, nevertheless did not become boring. Discreet but effective solutions provided the building with originality.

The designers decided to open up the house from the south side with large glazings. The second floor , a horizontal massive block, was suspended, as it were, so that the architects managed to relieve the pressure on the building's form. The first floor was moved back in relation to the outline of the roof - so a space was created almost fully surrounding the house. The architects enriched it with terraces, a pond and a gravel garden. The suspended part of the roof emphasizes the semi-private character of this area, and can bring shade on sunny days. In the evenings, the illuminated arcades around the house create a unique atmosphere, and the glow coming from the lamps is reflected in the stone-filled pond.

functional house

The architects were keen to meet the functional requirements of the investor. On the first floor on the north side was placed the main entrance area, combined with a dressing room. On the east side there was a garage, which will accommodate two cars, utility rooms and a kitchen. In the southern part of the first floor was located adjacent to the patio a spacious living room connected to the dining room. It is on this side that the pond was built. The living room merges with the garden, thanks to sliding glass doors leading to the terrace.

A patio separates the living area from the recreational area, which includes a small spa and gym. A staircase built between the main entrance and the living room directs to the first floor. There, the architects decided to divide the space into two independent parts. One - to the east - houses the master bedroom with a dressing room, bathroom and study. The other - from the north - is a children's room with a bathroom and a library.

The house has gained in nobility and elegance by covering the facade with graphite-colored composite panel cladding. On the panels covering parts of the terrace were cut small squares, which added originality to the mass - on sunny days the play of shadow and light brings interesting visual effects.
