Olga Gumienna and Marcin Osak on living, studying and working in Delft

Olga Gumienna and Marcin Osak talk about life in the Netherlands. Hear about how to apply to study at TU Delft, how much it costs to live in Delft, how to find an apartment for rent, get funding, and what it's like to study during the pandemic and whether it's that hard.

Olga Gumienna

Final year student of the master's degree in architecture. She received her education at universities in Poland and abroad - Wroclaw University of Technology, Politenico di Torino and Technische Universiteit Delft. During her studies, she was a long-term recipient of the Rector's Award for Best Students. Her engineering thesis, written under the supervision of Dr. Tomasz Glowacki, was awarded in the international competition The Tomb of Tomorrow. Together with Marcin Osak, in 2018 she received an honorable mention in the international student competition for the design of the Museum of Hebraism in Prague. She is currently working on completing her thesis at Delft University of Technology and gaining experience at the Dutch architecture firm Urban Climate Architects.

Marcin Osak

Studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the Wroclaw University of Technology. He completed his first degree with an engineering thesis done under the supervision of Dr. Ada Kwiatkowska. The thesis concerned the adaptation of a school to the needs of children with nervous system disorders. He began his master's studies at Technische Universiteit Delft, where he is focusing his attention on cities connected to large seaports (Hamburg, Gdansk, Rotterdam). He is currently preparing his final year thesis. Since 2017, she has been developing architectural design concepts together with Olga Gumienna. In 2018, they received an honorable mention in an international student competition for their design of the Museum of Hebraism in Prague. He gained experience at OVO Grąbczewscy Architekci office and other studios in Poland, among others.
